303 Toys Zhao Yun ... ...

Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a classic Chinese Literature that is part Historical, legend and mythical. The main Characters are familiar to many Chinese around the world and even the Japanese has adopted this literature to create anime using Gundam Characters. See here.

This is Zhao Yun made by 303 Toys and this is my first Romance of the Three Kingdoms character and probably my last. Information of Zhao Yun can be found here.
I did not order previous release of Guan Yu which is one of the key protagonists in the literature as he is revered as a deity and I do want to show some respect to that extend.

I got Zhao Yun for the fact his choice weapon is spear. I got another ancient warrior with spear and you would have remembered what it is if you follow my blog. In any case, he can be seen here.

Packaging is the shoe box version and there are 2 foam trays housing all you need to kit him up. A colorful instruction manual is provided for easy reference.

There are quite a few pieces for the armor and it comes with an alternative facial expression.

The figure comes kited though the instruction manual shows the steps to get him to this state.

Zhao Yun (died 229), courtesy name Zilong, was a military general who lived in the late Eastern Han dynasty and early Three Kingdoms period.

A explanation of who Zhao Yun is written on the side of the packaging. Partial translation is as follows
Zhao Yun, Zilong
Born in Chang Shan Zhen Ding, 8 feet tall, Muscular Physique, Courages and will not hesitate to battle. A member of the Five Tigers Generals. Originally a subordinate of the northern warlord Gongsun Zan, Zhao Yun later came to serve Liu Bei and had since accompanied Liu on most of his exploits — from the Battle of Changban (208) to the Hanzhong Campaign (217–219). He continued serving in the state of Shu Han in the Three Kingdoms period, participating in the first of Zhuge Liang’s Northern Expeditions, until his death in 229.

While many facts about Zhao Yun’s life remain unclear due to limited information in historical sources, some aspects and activities in his life had been highly dramatised or exaggerated in folklore and fiction, most notably in Luo Guanzhong’s historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, in which he was lauded as a member of the Five Tiger Generals under Liu Bei.

Let's start the kiting process and this is my first Chinese Ancient Warrior.

It took about an hour or so plus photo shoot to complete this and I'm rather disappointed that the end of spear that is on the ground is made of plastic while the top tip is made of metal.

I shall probably leave him like this as I have packed his head and other hands away and probably will not have the time to shoot him in the near future as the toys are coming in fast and furious.

I did pay some attention to this series however my collection ain't 1/6 scale. I like Zhao Yun as a whole for his skill and loyal. I was tempted to get the Lu Bu.

I am intrigued by the character's unique personalities but it's really highly dramatized by movie adaptations. I really like Guan Yu but as I mentioned, he is considered sacred in the aspect of being a deity so, collecting statues of idols aren't my cup of tea.
